DESERT HOT SPRINGS HIGH GETS SOME NEW EQUIPMENT FOR PLAYOFFS
Four years ago, when Eduardo Contreras faced the number one player in Rancho Mirage at the CIF sectional championships, he was playing with a borrowed racket and holes in his shoes. But that didn’t keep him from winning the match 4-6, 2-6, 10-5.
Eduardo's team, the Golden Eagles of Desert Hot Springs High School, have a history of playing strong tennis, despite a lack of equipment. So how much better will they do in this year's playoffs, when–thanks to Second Serve–the team will be playing with gently used but top-notch equipment?
The items donated by Second Serve to the Golden Eagles include dozens of rackets, shoes, and balls. With this new equipment, and the strong coaching Desert Hot Springs High School is known for, the Golden Eagles are sure to be a team to watch in this year's playoffs.
